The Stephen D. Paine Scholarship
There are presently no open calls for submissions.
Established in 1999 by the Boston Art Dealers Association, The Stephen D. Paine Scholarship is designed to support students who are entering their final year in studio art programs at colleges in the city of Boston. As young artists conclude their undergraduate studies, the Boston Art Dealers Association (BADA) would like to extend financial assistance in order to support their commitment to the making of art.
The scholarship is established in memory of Stephen D. Paine, who died in the fall of 1997 at the age of 65. Stephen was passionate about the visual arts and dedicated to supporting arts education through his involvement with numerous Boston-area institutions. In his capacity as a founding partner at Wellington Management in Boston, he formed an extensive corporate art collection that includes the work of scores of artists with ties to Boston. With his wife Susan W. Paine, he built an impressive private collection, supporting the work of both emerging and established artists. Together, these collections stand among the most important in the Boston area.
Stephen was a friend and ally to artists, students and art professionals. BADA is honored to celebrate his life and his passion through this scholarship.
